UNIVERSITY / SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Our Krav Maga programs are tailored to fit the unique needs of students at all ages and levels of experience, from beginners to advanced practitioners. From one off workshops to running ongoing programs for a full term length, we can customise content and length of any program.

Programs for Female-Identifying Students
At Apex Self Defence, we recognize the unique challenges and concerns that female-identifying students face in their daily lives. Our dedicated self-defence programs are designed to empower women and female-identifying individuals through specialized training that focuses on awareness, prevention, and effective response strategies in threatening situations.

Apex Empowerment Core
3 hours – can be covered in either 3 sessions or a single long session
This program covers common assaults for university age female students, incorporating basic striking and defence against striking, as well as grabs, holds, and chokes.

Apex Empowerment Foundation
5-7.5 hours – split over 5 x 60-90 minute sessions
Building on the Core program, sessions extend into common weapon threats and attacks which involve knives and sticks. Sessions also cover basic groundwork, as sexual assaults often involve a weapon and being forcibly taken to the ground.

Apex Empowerment Expansion
8+ hours – over any number of sessions
Our Expansion program is fully customised to have any number of sessions and can span an entire term or more. The Expansion program allows there to be a more robust mastery of the Core and Foundation topics, and can allow training into other areas such as multiple attacker scenarios, and protecting others. This can also be an opportunity to introduce specific topics that may be relevant to each university or area.

Apex General
The above can be run as Apex General programs, and structured as LGBTQIA+-, or include all students and staff. We can also provide standalone workshops than can be integrated into events or internal programs already running within the university.

What sets us apart:

Tailored, evidence-based training focused on students
Apex designs programs around real university contexts such as late-night study, nightlife, shared housing, and public transport. There is a strong focus on situational awareness, risk assessment, and de-escalation, which are important aspects for campus security. This ensures students gain practical strategies for the most common risks they face.

Experience and proven impact
Over 25 years of combat sports and martial arts experience, and 10 years of refining Krav Maga-based safety programs, Apex brings tested expertise and results that align directly with higher education needs. With a long history of delivering workshops across the country, our training has on multiple occasions been utilised by students to avoid altercations, as well as survive and escape assaults.

Empowerment & confidence that supports student wellbeing
Apex programs build a foundation of resilience and lasting confidence. By equipping students with practical skills and the ability to set and maintain boundaries, training reduces anxiety about personal safety and provides a sense of capability. The result is not only a safer campus environment but also a student body that feels safer, connected, and supported in both their personal and academic journeys.

Supportive community that builds collective safety
Training fosters peer bonds and inclusivity, embedding safety into the university’s wellbeing culture. Students learn not only to defend themselves but also to look out for one another, reinforcing shared responsibility for safety.
